Photography History

My passion for photography started during my childhood when I purchased a camera from McDonalds.  I started by taking pictures during family events. The most exciting thing about taking pictures of the kids. They are adorable. Over the years I upgraded to other cameras, including digital.

I have been told by people I can take too many pictures.  However, it’s something I really enjoy so I can’t resist. The fun part of photography is you never know what you’re going to capture until the event happens.  Like the man that is popping  a wheelie with his bicycle below. This picture was taken during a walk in Toronto on September 20th, 2003.

During my travel to California in March 2003, I was at Universal Studios. Walking around in the shopping area I have seen this very cool sign.

For me taking interesting pictures it is trial and error. The more I practice, the better I get at it. While going through my photo selection for WillyG Lounge, I notice how my skills are improving over the years.

After taking pictures for several years, I learned I have the most passion for  nature photography. I discovered this when I moved to Nova Scotia in 2009.  There is allot of beautiful parks in this province. This all started from a bus ride I had to take to Bedford.  Along the highway, I have seen this interesting park.  I kept saying to myself one day I need to go there.   So on October 17th, 2009, I went to Bedford & Sackville Connector Greenway.  You can observe how beautiful this park is from the photo below.

After this trip I have explored many other hiking trips in my local area.  For my vacation in November 2012 was my first time doing a big hiking trip.  I went to Cabot Trail at Highland National Park that is located in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. This is the trip I bought the Canon PowerShot SX50 HS.  I knew this would be a perfect camera for this trip as it haves 50x  optical zoom.  As an added bonus, this camera records full 1080P HD video.  Below is a picture of one of the mountains.

I will share photos and videos of this trip at a later date.  Since the purchase of Canon PowerShot SX50 HS, I have been pushing myself to do many hiking trips since this camera can capture beautiful pictures and videos at any distance. I think the reason why I like nature photography because it is very peaceful.

Before closing, I can’t forget about the penguins.  This picture was taken November 14th, 2012 in Windsor, Ontario, Canada.  I’m looking forward to sharing many of my exciting adventures as time progress.
